Hello and Welcome So we are on FTD facts We generally look at people cultures places and countries from all around the world and find out what's great about them but recently we've been learning a lot about Different military divisions and different types of military aircraft and gear and compare them against each other however with the recent groundings of the 737 max I feel it necessary that we do an on this plane to learn as much as we can about this aircraft and Why it's a huge fiasco for the company known as Boeing today everybody what's going on?
We're generally looking at people's cultures and places from around the world. But today I'm taking things in a different direction now Because of the sensitivity of this topic this is gonna be kind of a more downplay serious sort of blog But it shouldn't discourage you guys from leaving your suggestions down there in the comments section below feel free to do so that being said before I get into this considering you're here probably to learn as much as you can about the 737 here on the blog. I did say I talked about countries and stuff like that And if that's your bad You want to expand your mind and feel free to hit that subscribe button and check out our other blogs below the Boeing 737 max is the fourth generation of the Boeing 737 Series prior to this there was the Boeing 737 next generation or ng which proved to be very successful? plane with over six thousand nine hundred and ninety-six built as of January 2019 but as for the Boeing 737 max It's a rather new plane for the company in which the series was introduced to the world on August 30th, 2011 now one of the major reasons for the introduction of this plane is because well
Let's be real Boeing has been in major competition with Airbus for a long time now and as for the company Airbus in 2010, they had released the a320neo which was major competition for Boeing planes and this plane one of its major features was that it had new engines that Operated very efficiently by burning less fuel which we all know when we go to the airport You guys are probably complaining as much as I do. Why do we spend so much on a flight ticket? Well, a lot of that is fuel cost or so they say I don't know about you But I feel like every couple of years They're always adding on a new sort of thing that you got to pay for whether or not it's luggage space fuel Whatever next it'll be the price for using the air on the plane I swear to god that's going to come however to compete against this new aircraft the company scrambled and announced the launch of its re-engined 737 and this was to be the 737 max now their initial goal was to get the plane to burn 16% less fuel than their competitor planes Which was the popular Airbus? 320 CEO and make this new plane burn also 4% less than the new Airbus a320neo I know all these Ennio CEOs They sound really confusing but I'm really only talking about two different types of planes and during this time before production even began American Airlines had a major interest in these planes with the intent to buy over a hundred of them now by 2011 the cost of this new airplane for the airframe design was stated to be anywhere between 10 to 15% of the program cost which was estimated to be 10 to 12 billion dollars.
I'm gonna be talking in US dollars, not anything else I say that cuz I got a lot of viewers from different parts of the world and don't want anybody to get confused however by 2015 the production of this aircraft began the original test for this aircraft was built at spirit Aeronautics, which is in Wichita Kansas in which during that time? 70% of the airframe for this aircraft came from this very production plant and it wasn't long until the very first Boeing 737 max was introduced and rolled out on December 8th,2015 and for Boeing, they were really excited about this aircraft because one of the big things was it was delivered on time and Oddly enough when this aircraft was rolled out. They played it with the sung. We are the champions by Queen Well, I'm just gonna say this and it's a little bit unfortunate. They're not really the champions right now So I guess they really didn't see this coming and by its release, the Boeing 737 max Was listed to be 20% more fuel-efficient than the modern-day 730 sevens, and with that on it's released Boeing had immediate orders of 2995 units insane and this actually made it the fastest-selling Boeing aircraft in the company's history It should also be mentioned that the original 737 has been a very popular plane and as of 2019 they have sold over ten thousand four hundred and seventy-eight and with that for the number of years that it's been going there Have been only three hundred and sixty-eight incidents for that also There are three major versions that I definitely should point out.
There is the common very original 737 there is also when I mentioned before the 737ng which was designed to have a more narrow body and airframe. And of course, there is now the 737 max which has been re-engined with a CFM international leap 1b engine as a matter of fact This engine was first introduced to the world on the Airbus 320, Ennio which in the case because we're talking weird numbers the CEO nao the NAO was the main competition for the 737 max so basically they took that engine and put it on the 737 and besides its engine upgrade There were also some major changes within the aircraft such as a split-tip winglet there was also liquid crystal displays that were taken from the 787 Dreamliner, which was aimed to help pilots There was also an improvement on the fly-by-wire controls and as well They did some modifications to the airframe to increase the max weight Takeoff for the newer engines as they were heavier now with this aircraft We should also look at some of the different variants that were made and what is different about them the main ones to pull from? These are the max seven the max eight the nine and of course, the new max 10 The max seven however was originally intended to be rolled out to Southwest Airlines by 2019 however, this got pushed back to 2023 as WestJet got the first five of these this aircraft seats approximately 153 people to about 170 to the next variant is the max eight which is the more common one that you see today Malindo air flew this fair for the first time on May 22nd, 2017 going from Kuala lumper to Singapore with the air flight named OD 803 and this particular version was extended in length.
Just slightly as it seated 178 to 200 there was also the max 200 which had a version that added up to 200 passengers on top of that there is the max 9 version which the Thai lion Air Group acquired their first batch in March of 2018 this one seat between 193 and IMAX of 220 people, but however The max 10 is the new big baby that is for the company being planned to enter service in 2020 It's estimated to lower passenger costs by five percent compared to their Airbus competitions The max 10 was launched on June 29th, 2017 and immediately two hundred and orders were made As a matter of fact America was the highest purchaser of this aircraft Originally, they were gonna go with the max nine, but they changed their orders to the max 10 also this plane was upgraded for its seats from a minimum of 204 to a maximum of 230 people and speaking about orders how many of these planes are out there today? Well, the good question as of 2019 the estimated deliveries are around 5,000 111 currently however, only 376 of these have been made with most of them being delivered as of February 2009 teen and Considering we've just talked about variants.
Let's talk about some of the specifications of this aircraft for your cargo It changes from variant to variant dependent on size basically for the max 10 It has 55 point 5 meters cubed for cargo the length of course changes depending on the version however Let's look at the max 8 which is the more common version That is flying today that Kim's and at 39 point 4 7 meters where the new max 10 comes in at 40 3.8 meters the wingspan is, of course, one size for all variants coming in at 35 point 9 2 meters and Similarly, the height is the same for all versions coming in at 12 point three meters Of course because the size is a little bit different the maximum takeoff weight the mt. Ow is Lately different on different versions for the MTO w-4 the max 8 it comes in at 180 1200 pounds whereas the max 10 has been upgraded to carry 197 thousand nine hundred pounds all versions do have a maximum payload of Forty-six thousand forty pounds with a fuel capacity of forty-five thousand six hundred and ninety-four pounds across the board The cruising speed is also matched at Mach a point seven nine for the range of this aircraft The max eight is six thousand five hundred and seventy kilometers however for the max nine and the max 10 These are changed simply due to the fact that of course, the size is different and therefore they get less range because of the fuel However for the max nine and the max 10 they do have an auxiliary tanker But the max 10 can go six thousand one hundred and ten kilometers for the maximum ceiling of this aircraft It sits at forty-one thousand feet. And other than that, let's take a look at the individual costs of these versions Basically for the max seven it comes in at ninety-nine point seven million u.s. Dollars the max eight However is a little bit more coming in at one hundred and twenty one point six million u.s Dollars the max nine gets another four million added on to that coming in at one hundred and twenty eight point nine million u.s dollars and as of 2019 the stated price for the max ten is Around one hundred and thirty four point nine million u.s Dollars
now, obviously, I have to mention the events that happened in 2018 and 2019 One of the worst parts is one of these planes only had about 800 Hours of logged flight time and the other one was only four months old Which basically these were brand new aircrafts and these events happened only five months apart from each other but however It was on march 13th that thirty two countries from around the world had issued that these new over 300 planes be grounded with also the company announcing Shortly after that global grounding was to commence for all of these planes Despite the fact that boeing had faith in the safety of the aircraft heck even norway even asked for compensation For the groundings of these aircrafts, it's quite insane As well on March 11th, the company of Boeing dropped seven percent in the stock markets which effectively wiped almost 16 billion dollars off Boeing's market value and although they have issued a Software update for their flight control until these problems can be easily identified This has been an absolute fiasco for the company known as Boeing. So there you have it guys That is me looking at the Boeing 737 Max, I hope you guys liked this blog.
